Frequently Asked Questions

How does Common Index work?

The tool stores a curated array of facts as JavaScript objects, each with a name, value, unit, and category tag. Searching filters this array using a case-insensitive string match against the name and category fields. Category filter buttons toggle which tags are included in the displayed results. Copying uses the Clipboard API to write the fact's name and value as a formatted string.

What kind of facts does Common Index include?

It covers nine categories: speed (highway limits, speed of sound), weights (common objects, animals), measurements (door height, field dimensions), human body (heart rate, blood pressure, sleep), money (rent, income, prices), food (calories, caffeine), culture (tipping norms, voltage), sports (court sizes, game lengths), and nature (temperatures, distances).

Can I copy facts to use elsewhere?

Yes. Each fact has a copy button that puts the name and value on your clipboard, ready to paste into messages, documents, or presentations.
