Frequently Asked Questions

How does Interval Ear Training work?

The tool picks a random root note (MIDI 48-72) and a random interval from your enabled set, then plays both notes using Web Audio API OscillatorNodes. Each note is shaped with a gain envelope for a natural piano-like decay. Your guess is compared to the actual interval, and accuracy statistics are tracked per interval in localStorage.

What is interval ear training?

Interval ear training is the practice of recognizing the distance between two musical notes by ear. Identifying intervals is a core skill in music theory and sight-singing.

What intervals are covered?

All 12 chromatic intervals: minor 2nd, major 2nd, minor 3rd, major 3rd, perfect 4th, tritone, perfect 5th, minor 6th, major 6th, minor 7th, major 7th, and octave.

Is my progress saved?
