Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Sine Wave Generator work?

The tool creates a Web Audio API OscillatorNode set to the chosen waveform type (sine, square, sawtooth, or triangle) at the requested frequency. A GainNode controls volume, and the oscillator feeds directly to the audio output. Frequency changes update the oscillator's frequency parameter in real time with no gap or click.

What frequency range can I generate?

From 20 Hz (lowest bass) to 20,000 Hz (highest treble), covering the full range of human hearing. Use the slider or type an exact frequency for precise control.

Can I use this as a hearing test?

You can sweep through frequencies to find the highest pitch you can hear. Most adults cannot hear above 15-17 kHz. This is a rough self-test, not a medical audiometry exam.

What waveforms are available?

Sine (pure tone), square, sawtooth, and triangle waves. Sine is the most common for hearing tests and reference tones. Other waveforms have richer harmonic content useful for music and audio testing.
