How does the Typing Speed Test work?
The tool records a start timestamp when you begin typing and tracks each keystroke against the expected character in the passage. Correct characters advance the cursor; incorrect ones are flagged as errors. WPM is calculated as (total characters typed / 5) / elapsed minutes, where 5 characters equals one standard word. Accuracy is (correct keystrokes / total keystrokes) * 100%. A new random passage is selected for each test from a pool of text samples.
